Summary
We are looking for a self-motivated, high-energy individual to join our team as a System Administrator. In such role you will be responsible for management of Linux and Solaris servers and all associated software used for the production infrastructure of the company. You will be primarily responsible for the management of over 50+ Linux and Solaris systems and associated software used for the development, test and support of our search engine and related technologies. In such role, you will work in a team to own the support of the IT infrastructure, supporting all aspects (client and server) of the network(s). This job requires working effectively with various departments with competing demands.
Responsibilities
+ Take ownership of supporting the production infrastructure of Feedster Inc.
+ Support product development though all phases of the software development lifecycle to ensure continual availability of hardware and software resources.
+ Ensure the smooth running of resources required for software development including development sandboxes, test systems, and production systems.
+ Maintain third party software versions and updates.
+ Setup and maintain reference systems for issue verification and testing.
+ Configuration and deployment of new systems.
+ Collaborate with team members and various departments for continual system improvements and security enhancements.
+ Regularly communicate priorities and status to manager and various departments as appropriate.
+ User and desktop support in a mixed OS environment, including Mac OSX and Windows XP.
Requirements
+Minimum of 3-5 years of practical experience and increasing responsibilities in the following areas:
- Setup, maintenance, and administration of Linux and Sun Solaris systems (and automation of such) including timely patch deployment.
- Setup, maintenance, and administration of NIS and LDAP directories.
- Setup, maintenance, and administration of two or more of the following databases: Oracle, -DB2, PostgreSQL, MySQL.
- Configuration and management of Networking infrastructure: TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, DHCP, NFS, routing etc. Scripting (bash/sh, PERL, Python).
+ Self–directed but also the ability to receive direction in a positive manner.
+ Ability to work in various locations as needed (office, datacenter).
+ Ability to rotate responsibility for 24-hour “on call” duties and work additional hours outside of standard business hours as needed.
+ Proven success and ability to adapt to a fast paced, continuously changing environment.
+ Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with minimum supervision.
+ Strong desire to learn, grow, and innovate.
